A-mezze-ing: making the ultimate summer mezze

July 23, 2017

There is nothing like a good mezze platter to get your party or barbeque going. Mezze is super easy and fast to make so you are sure to impress your guests with minimal effort! Here at The Leisure Lounge, if it won’t make your life easier then we don’t want it! So why not whip up a few dishes using some of our inspiration…

Crazy for quick and easy hummus

One of the simplest and most delicious snacks you could include in your mezze is hummus. Easily made at home or purchased at the super-market, hummus is available in a range of different flavours from original to roasted pepper. Simply pair the hummus with some pitta bread or sliced veggies; carrots, cucumber, and celery for a tasty (healthy!) snack.

Craving a kofta?

Similar to a kebab, koftas are the perfect addition to a barbeque. Served with hot pitta bread and spicy chutney, these meat parcels will go down a treat!

Super simple salt and pepper calamari

If fish is your thing then calamari is the perfect dish to include in your mezze. Deep fried in a light batter, then sprinkled with some salt and pepper. How can you wrong? Pair this delicious snack with some garlic and lemon mayonnaise or for a healthier option why not add some Greek yoghurt and you’re good to go!

Hyped for halloumi

Halloumi is the perfect addition to any burger or salad. Sliced and lightly fried in a pan, the cheese becomes perfectly melted in the middle giving a delicious flavour with every bite.

Spice up your salad

What is mezze without an amazing salad? Once freshly cut, pour a drizzle of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a handful of pomegranates to take your salad to a whole new level!

Treat your taste buds with tabbouleh

A must have at any barbeque, tabbouleh is a fresh tasting herb salad made with traditional bulgur wheat that requires minimal time and tastes incredible.

Try something new with Imam Bayildi (Baked tomato and aubergine)

Imam Bayildi is a stunning side dish that tastes even better with a slice of crusty bread. Similar to a ratatouille, this dish is packed with a delicious tomato base and soft baked aubergine that will have your guests begging for more!
