October 21, 2017

Winter sun holiday destinations mean we can still squeeze in a cheeky winter sun holiday before the year’s out; then kick back and lie on a warm, sunny beach thinking of those you left behind.

Here are some of our favourite winter sun holiday hotspots across Europe so you can replace that hot chocolate with an ice cold margarita.

Malta

Valletta, Malta’s capital is a small city established during the 1500s. Famous for its museums, palaces, and grand Churches, this city is perfect for those who love sightseeing and beaches. The country has a turbulent and colourful history, ruled by a series of occupiers with the prehistoric remains, fortresses, temples, burial chambers and eclectic Mediterranean cuisine to prove it.

Nowadays the port is lined with restaurants, bars and cafes heavily influenced by Mediterranean cuisine. Winter sun holiday temperatures on the island regularly stay around the 20 degree mark, making it a perfect spot for a winter sun holiday.

Sicily

With blue skies, trees in full bloom, and not a raincloud in sight, Sicily is ideal for exploring and basking under the warm winter sun temperatures. With its stunning Baroque towns and incredible archaeological sites you will be kept busy all day long. Not to forget, there will be fewer crowds and tourists so you can enjoy yourself without the fuss of too many people.

Cyprus

With winter sun temperatures floating around 20 degrees, Cyprus is an excellent choice for a winter sun holiday. Packed with culture, history, and incredible food, this holiday is sure to keep your summer going. Located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea you have a wide choice of spectacular beaches to choose from so you can spend your days topping up your tan.

Madeira

1,000 miles from mainland Portugal, Madeira is one of Europe’s most remote and exotic islands. With its green landscapes, tropical gardens, and stunning coast, there is no better place to visit to escape the winter blues. With the temperature reaching over 20 degrees, and sunshine for around 6 hours a day, the weather is perfect for sightseeing, golfing or simply sitting back and relaxing.

Tenerife

No winter sun holiday list would be complete without mentioning Tenerife. From water sports and beach activities, to incredibly fresh seafood, you are sure to enjoy the traditional Spanish atmosphere.

If you’re a bit of a night owl, Tenerife is the party capital of the Canary Islands, particularly in the large southern beach resorts. Whatever you enjoy, one thing is guaranteed; warm, sunny winter temperatures that will make you forget all about the cold.
